A common thing we see on client sites is a duplicate page plugin. These plugins are great for one click duplication of a page to allow you to edit the content with ease. The down side of these plugins is in the way WordPress handles plugins. Not only to they increase the attack area of your website and provide yet another piece of software to monitor and keep up to date. They also can slow down your website if they are not developed correctly.
A better way of handling this is with the JSON editor built into Oxygen Builder. You can easily copy and paste the JSON code from one page to another within your website to duplicate a page. Not only does this not require any plugins it also does not cause any issues with dynamic content in Oxygen Builder.
As we walk through in the above video the process is simple and does not take much time at all. This can even save you time in the long run as you don’t have any increased maintenance to do on your website.
The JSON box can be found below the edit with Oxygen button when editing a page. It is a small text link that slides out a box with a lot of computer code. You don’t need to understand the code, just copy and paste the code in full to the new page. Once you save the page you can then load Oxygen Builder and edit the page as your normally would.
It is important to make sure the code is copied and pasted in full as partial JSON code can be Oxygen Builder doesn’t load your page correctly or worse Oxygen Builder doesn’t load at all.
You can also use this same trick for any post, template, post type or anything else built with Oxygen, it is not just for pages. Whatsmore, you can with a little work use this to copy and paste pages and templates across websites.
We use Oxygen Builder every day for the websites we build as part of our prefered technology stack, if you have any additional questions or want to know more please do reach out.
